How to make your day better…

Today eyes-opening smell of freshly baked flapjacks or cakes has sneaked into my room. It was mood changing event. This made my day. It is very important to start your day right. Some people do not appreciate, even cannot notice the importance of peaceful and beautiful morning. For some of them it’s a time of day when you need to get up and go to work or school.

Their minds are loaded with the problems and plans for the future. On the one hand it’s good to have your day filled up with the events and responsibilities, because your schedule determines your close future and you feel stability but one the other, if it’s a daily routine it is exhausting. The point is that the way you started your morning influences your mood.

Therefore the answer for the title question is that you should start you day right, especially morning.

Movies of 1980-s. Hot Pursuit…

Meanwhile, Dan’s “new friends” arrived to the hotel. Cronenbergs family were gone. They didn’t catch up with them… Dan learned that sailor also plans to chase the yacht…  The next morning he woke up on the boat. They were going after the yacht named Crystal Slipper.

In 80′s American cinematography’s products had a unique style. Those films were interesting, unexpected, full of events screenplays. Plot used to keep your attention. Modern movies are different. Some of them have a simple plotline, and some are full of special effects. In 1980s there was an unpredictable sequence of events. Many movies could guarantee you a good mood and positive emotions.

Hot Pursuit (1987) is one of them. It all started when the main character – Dan Bartlett (John Cusack) almost didn’t pass a chemistry exam.  It happened because instead of learning, he spent the evening arguing with his girlfriend about the importance of knowledge and the pizza (should they order some or not?).

The next morning went not so good, as he expected. He got only 58 of 100 points. Fortunately, his teacher Mr. Kowalski had a big, good heart and let him to supplement the answers. After it was done, he was free to travel with the Lori Cronenberg’s (Wendy Gazelle) family.

He almost missed the plane. When he finally arrived, it appeared that to get a taxi on the Caribbean Islands it is not an easy task.  He decided to go to the hotel with the friendly and seemingly good-natured strangers.

Along the way, their car stuck in the mud middle of the jungle. After the several attempts to solve the problem, all except Dan agreed to camp.  He tried to take car out of the mud using his knowledge of the laws of physics. In the late night he failed and went to sleep.

In the morning, when everyone was asleep, he decided to leave the camp and try to get to the hotel itself. This was one of those hasty decisions, which caused more problems than solve.

After a little walk in the wild, he found a way. It was too late. His girlfriend and his family left the hotel. Meanwhile, Dan’s “new friends” arrived to the hotel. They had recognized the girl and tried to to talk. Family was concerned about the safety and asked the concierge not to be bothered.

Cronenberg family left the hotel and went to a yacht. Dan and company were unable to catch up with them. It upset Dan.  He spent the night at the bar, where he met eccentric sailor. The conversation under the influence of alcoholic intoxication went very well. Dan learned that sailor also plans to chase the yacht…

The next morning Dan woke up in a boat. They were going after the yacht named Crystal Slipper.  After several days at sea with the strange captain, he realized that this is enough of this journey. When the boat was in the harbor, he jumped into the water. When he reached the shore, local police arrested him and gave 6 years of imprisonment without the trial.

When the situation came to a standstill and it seemed that there is no exit, the captain appeared and freed Dan. During the chase, main character learned that the yacht is hijacked. Meanwhile, a team member who belonged to a criminal group eliminated the captain and took Cronenbergs as the hostages.

Dan came to Laguna Del Mar, where Lori Cronenberg stayed with his family and decided to call. Nobody picked up the phone because hijackers were in their room. There was a hostage situation. Den looked around.   There was a yacht which he was looking for. So, he came aboard.

Pirates were there and were thinking what to do with the family. Dan took action and found the way to save Cronenbergs’ family. There were shootings, explosions and chases. Dan looked like a Rambo, acted almost the same. When they defeated the bad guys, Dan and his girlfriend Lori Cronenberg went on a romantic trip yacht. This is a basic sketch of the story.

In my opinion movie team did a great job. They even showed a little parody, how people in Central and South America understand the democracy.  When Dan took his flight to Laguna Del Mar, stewardess unexpectedly asked about the destination. People voted by raising hands. When Dan said that this is wrong, the stewardess asked why? It’s democracy! That is just one funny moment, but there were many of them.

The film is incredibly interesting and deserves your attention. There are a lot of interesting moments and unexpected turns. I’d recommend it!

When people have to choose…

It is not because people agree with that, it is not because it’s normal. People are affected by that. They try as hard as they can….and still they face a need to make  a life saving decision.

There are regions where unemployment is a commonly known fact. It is not because people agree with that, it is not because it’s normal. For some reason this is the state of things. People are affected by that.

If somebody would criticize such region, he could say  it’s hopeless, jobless with rude people. In their defense we would assume, they behave like that for a reason. Either they do not imagine different situation or it’s normal in unfriendly environment.

In first case, they even may not know that there are cultures where people are friendly to each other, where people try to care about those around them. This is a paradox of the situation, when people act weird but they don’t know it or the observer is weird and everybody is normal.

Another possible explanation is that everyone is normal but has their own way of thinking. If we analyze the situation in such manner, we should ask, what does it mean? Being normal it’s a relative term. What is normal for one person – is weird for another.

To get back to the point, the situation is much better in the regions where there is an opportunity. While in poor regions it is very depressive. People try as hard as they can to get a job, to get some money. Unfortunately, it is not goes well all the time…

When it happens, there are few limited options. We’re not going to discuss all of them but we’ll mention some. First one is to make a plan of your life, second – try hard. If it doesn’t work, try even harder but after that there is third option – try to look for better live somewhere else (but we do not suggest anything).

It is not only a delicate matter, but also a very hard decision. If people move to other regions, it could hard for some time, but they will use to it. It they move to other country, they leave their culture, take an effort to get to know a new language, if situation requires. In addition, they need to learn more, to get used to live in other society. This is a hard but sometimes it is necessary. For people from poor, hopeless regions and countries this is a life saving decision. They just try to make a better future. For some of them it is a dilemma, for others it is a challenge…

How life changes people?

Often you can hear people say that somebody has changed, the live changed and everything is different right now. The changes are unavoidable.  Reality changes, people change. The opportunities, experience, life challenges, hard choices change them. John F. Kennedy once said that: “change is the law of life…”.

Today is a great day and it inspired me to write a short reflection about changes.  Often you can hear people say that somebody has changed, the live changed and everything is different now. From time to time, those are critical voices, sometimes skeptical or otherwise – full of hope.

The changes are unavoidable.  It is important to mention, because this is a chain of live. Reality changes, people change. Which make them to see the world from different perspective. There is nothing wrong with that. This can cause a situation, when people who do not see each other for a long time have grown apart.  What does it mean?  Is this an important issue in our lives?  How is it affecting us?

As the answer to those questions we can tell a little story about two people who knew each other for a long time, from the childhood. They were in the same preschool, in the same school and so on. When they went to the college, their lives have changed. Different educational institutions, different live experience influenced their vision of the world, affected believes. They became strangers to each other.

We’re not talking about financial side of the story; we’re not talking about a career path. We just try to take a closer look at consequences of life changing events.

Those persons used to leave in different cities, had to deal with different cultural environments, communicate with different people. All of this was a life changing journey.  Their minds enriched with new ideas and ideals, and environment in the meaning of financial abilities and opportunities gave them a new vision of their future.

After some time, when they met again, something was between them.  This barrier was the way of thinking and acting.  It was clearly, said sometimes say have an opposite ideas. It is usually natural, because every one of us has it is own, unique solutions and resolutions.  In this case it was a bit different, because their personalities changed.  They acted as the strangers.

It was obvious, that experience that they got in different cities affected them.  They grew apart almost in all meaning including: outlook on life, financial accountability, social status. It is very possible that every one got his own arrogance and assertiveness.

This is how people grow apart. The opportunities, experience, life challenges, hard choices change them. Even circles that they belong to, affect a behavior and the life style.  In fact, those changes can be for the best, but sometimes it is otherwise. The best way to deal with it is to find a balance in the life and move on.

John F. Kennedy once said that: “change is the law of life. And those who look only to the past or present are certain to miss the future”.  He was absolutely right.  Those who hold on to the past has a problem to see the future, those who only care about the present neither see the future nor learn from past.  And third types are those who just wait for the future and do not enjoy the present (if there is something to enjoy to).  That is the point where future is welcomed and past is past, and present is between it.

Movies from 1980s. The Breakfast Club

There is an interesting movie called The Breakfast Club (1985). Maybe it is not the best movie ever, but it is has a good plot. It shows a school in Chicago. This is a kind of the school, where nobody cares about others, because everyone got his own live to attend to.

The whole story is about high school students who got punished.  They had to spend a whole day (eight hours) at the library. In the end of the day, they suppose to write a little essay of 1000 words and portray the vision of themselves and who they are?

Someone can say that is typical high school movie for teenagers, which is not different from the other movie. For my view, it makes difference, because it shows, how students deal with the problem and communicate with themselves.

All students had minor faults which involved other students, as the victims.  Claire Standish (Molly Ringwald) was a beauty queen, Andrew Clarke (Emilio Estevez) – an athlete, Brian Johnson (Anthony Michael Hall) – science enthusiast, Allison Reynolds (Ally Sheedy) – very weird girl and John Bender (Judd Nelson) – a bully, with background story.

The plot is not only about the students but also about a principal, who gone mad with the power. Probably, many of us have seen this movie, so there is no need to retell the plot. But what we should focus on is their attitude to each other, a lack of trust on the beginning that became cooperative action on the end.

At first they’ve looked to each other with despise, but then after some time they became friendlier to each other. The reason why they behaved in such manner on the beginning was the fact that they were from different circles. However, the more they learn about each other, the more they realize that they are not so different after all. But still the difference was a result of their living conditions, believes, goals, and parents’ expectations and financial abilities. The situation has connected them. Moreover, the experience that they got together made them a team until the end of the punishment.

It has helped them to integrate closely than they were ever before. They didn’t write the essays but overcame their difference. This is what the movie meant to show.

In real life when yang people gathered together, most of the time they get silly ideas, which sometimes lead them into the trouble. This case wasn’t an exception. After students got their tasks, they took a risk run down the hallway, did talking, smoking etc.. But the most important thing, that they found a common language. As far as we can guess, next time they meet, they won’t be strangers, but acquaintances. But still from the look of things we can conclude that they became frenemies…

Very good movie with the deep meaning, good, and quality monologues and dialogs.

When song gives a better understanding of the emotions

On the Eurovision contest 2015 there were a lot of good songs that deserves an attention. Bloggers wrote many articles about it, so you are free to check it out. There is one song that made me write a little reflection. John Karagiannis from Cyprus performed with the song “One Thing I Should Have Done”. The songs itself is a good tune, the lyrics even better. All words are meaningful, but we’ll focus on the passage: I always did everything for you, I gave you my heart, you gave me yours too…”.

No need to be an expert in love relationships to say what whose words are about? In spite of that not all people understand the deeper meaning of those words. For some people words are just words. This is basically means that they understand only information without the emotional context. When it happens, there is no emotional connection between the people. Moreover, it is hard to establish it.

Why is it happens to some people? It is hard to give a precise answer. If you got an answer, let me know in commentary section.

People’s attitude…

People have their own ideas, lifestyle, behavior, tastes etc.. They have their own motivation which leads them thought the situation. But there are some societies, where real motivation comes from the tradition or traditional actions. It could be also connected with the fear to be “different”, to be a person that most people would reject because of different views or way of thinking.

This is an example or hard way to live among the society. Some people even have a recipe for good life in such situation. They just do not care. Sure thing, this is an extremity of the views, but it helps them to deal with the situation, I guess. The danger is that such actions can cause alienation and loneliness, even if there are many people around.

In fact, people’s perception of the reality is relative. The things which are right for one person could be weird to another. Therefore, if somebody got judgmental attitude, it comes from his believes or the vision how things suppose to be. In this case, do-not-care attitude is not a good solution because it leads people to nowhere. Instead of taking steps to find a consensus and deal with the situation, they can lock themselves in their own world created by the emotions, great expectations and ambitions.

So, the basic question is how to deal with that? From the one hand, some people want to be different and try to find something unique about themselves, from the other hand; it is hard to do it in the societies with strong historical and traditional heritage which puts people into pressure to follow it. And such attitude as do-not-care is not a reasonable solution. Thus, which one is? As it was written, everyone got his ideas, but still the moderations seems to be a good suggestion.
